Birch ~ Bheith
Other names: Lady of the woods
Language of Flowers & Symbolism: Adaptability, growth, transformation, protection
Our lady Birch was revered by the Irish druids as a tree of purification and protection. It was burnt in bonfires at Bealtaine for it's tarry sap and associations with fertility and renewal and again at Samhain (the Celtic New year) to drive out evil spirits and to bring luck for the year ahead. Birch has strong associations across Ireland Europe with Spring and the Goddess Eostre and so has come to symbolize growth, fertility, rebirth and new beginnings.
This ring was made with a Birch branch from a sapling in my garden cast in Sterling silver and a hand-sculpted Robins nest with three little eggs made of Silver clay.
This piece has been lightly patinaed to darken the shadows and gently bring out all the intricate details of the flower, this effect can be diminished with regular washing so please be sure to remove it before bathing.
Your piece will come packaged safely in one of my beautiful signature gift boxes complete with a thank you card that explains the heritage of the piece and a care instruction card. If you'd like me to include a hand-written note on your behalf, just leave a note in the 'message to seller' box at checkout.
