BlueBell ~ Coinnle Corra
Alternative names: Blue Rocket, Crowtoes, Cuckoo's boots, Harebell
Language of Flowers: Gratitude, Kindness, Humility & Loyalty
Our precious native bluebells are arguably one of our most beloved and treasured wildflowers, evocative of the ethereal beauty of the once great wild woodlands that covered almost all of Ireland. The were considered a fairy flower, and the bells would summon fairy folk if rung. They're closely associated with the moon and were said to prevent nightmares. In Irish ballads and stories they are also associated with beauty, grief and mourning.
This one of a kind statement brooch features Spring bluebells and ferns from a little patch that grow along the streambank and under a magnificent Horse Chestnut at the bottom of our garden.
The imprints are cast using Sterling silver clay, which I darken using a dark grey patina to highlight all the intricate details.
A little blue Tanzanite and Labradorite are set in sold 14k gold bezels beneath and a single bluebell bud has been gilded in 24k gold using the ancient Korean technique Keum Boo.
The whole piece is finished in my favourite brushed matt finish and dark-grey patina.
The fastening pin at the back is made of brass, you need to take a little care not to be too rough when you're putting on or removing this piece as the wire could bend.
Your piece will come packaged safely in one of my beautiful signature gift boxes complete with a thank you card that explains the heritage of the piece and a care instruction card. If you'd like me to include a hand-written note on your behalf, just leave a note in the 'message to seller' box at checkout.
Layaway and purchase plans in your own time are very welcome, just get in touch by email and I'd be happy to help.
