Wren ~ Dreoilín
This pendant features a tiny Wren which I handcrafted from polymer clay before casting in solid Sterling silver. Wrens are a particularly beloved bird of our native Irish wildlife, it's impossible not to be charmed by their bright eyed cleverness and brazen determination not to be outshone by any of our bigger and brighter garden birds. In sculpting this piece I did my very best to capture that cock-eyed charm and character that we all know and love.
The Irish name Dreoilín means Druids or trickster bird, a reference to the old belief that the Wren is the wisest of all.
To create this necklace I work with a professional casting company who make the most beautifully detailed Sterling silver casts from my original miniature sculptures. I then finish each one entirely by hand so that all the intricate details of the original piece are perfectly captured.
This piece is made in 18k gold vermeil which is when a thick layer of gold is plated onto a Sterling silver base creating a high quality and very affordable alternative to solid gold.

The chain is 14k gold filled and 18 inches long.
