This pendant features everyone's favourite fairy toadstool mushroom, Amanita Muscaria (Fly Agaric) with all her exquisitely frilly and spotted details beautifully captured in solid Sterling Silver, a perfect pendant inspired by Irish wildlife to treasure for any woodland fairy or mushroom forager.
Amanita Muscaria must be the most iconic and alluring (and elusive) of all mushrooms, with her bright red caps covered in white spots they are universally enchanting and steeped in fairy lore wherever they are found to grow. In Ireland, eating the Fairy mushroom (or Pookies as they are called colloquially) is said to give on visions of faeries, leprechauns and all other sorts of beasts and beings from across the veil, especially at Samhain.
To create this necklace I work with a professional casting company who make the most beautifully detailed Sterling silver casts from my original miniature sculptures. I then finish each one entirely by hand so that all the intricate details of the original piece are perfectly captured.
The Sterling silver base is then professionally coated in 18k gold vermeil, which is the best affordable alternative to solid gold and better quality than traditional gold plating as the coating must be at least 2.5 microns thick.
