This enchanting pair of flower drop earrings were made with sprigs of delicate blue Germander Speedwell blossoms, gathered from under the apple trees in my garden which I then carefully dried and encapsulated in crystal-clear eco resin.
The resin brings to plants to life to create a vivid & enchanting piece of jewellery that will never wilt, a perfect romantic keepsake from nature to wear close to your heart.
The resin droplets measure 15mm and the drop length is 34mm. All the findings are made with high quality Sterling silver.
Speedwell (known as Annuallach as Gaeilge, or 'jump up and kiss me' in Munster where I'm from) is considered one of the seven sacred herbs, along with yarrow, vervain, St John's wort, eyebright, mallow and self-heal. When taken as a brew together, these seven magical herbs were thought to protect both people and cattle from the fairies.
With such a sacred status, it was believed that nothing natural or otherwise could harm the humble little Speedwell plant. Traditionally it was sewn in to the clothing of travellers to protect them from mishaps, making this a lovely gift for anyone in need in a bit of luck or who's about to set off on an adventure!
These lovely floral earrings would make a beautiful gift for any one as they will arrive packaged in one of my beautiful signature gift boxes, ready for gift-giving and with no need for further wrapping (see pictures above).
Polish your earrings with a micro-fibre cloth and store in a jewellery box when you're not wearing them to protect them from scratches and unnecessary exposure. Please take care to keep them dry and store them away from direct sunlight.
Ruby Robin specializes in unique, keepsake jewellery for the modern day romantic. All the designs were imagined and made by Irish designer Khrystyna Marriott.
The pieces at Ruby Robin are designed to allow the quiet beauty of nature to shine, to stir the imagination, inspire wonder and encapsulate a microcosm of long forgotten memories. I make my jewellery using a range of strange and beautiful curiosities, found in the woods and on the mountain sides, on the windswept beaches and wild meadows.
